A couple of our wood flooring vendors have installed on their websites a gadget that lets you see what various wood designs look like in rooms that you are designing.
It's pretty simple. Take a picture of the room with your cell, upload it to the site and start trying out different colors and styles of flooring.
This technology might be helpful in resolving social distancing issues.
Demo
Take a picture and upload it.

Pick a flooring style and install it into your picture.

Kitchen floor too dark?

Try a lighter shade.

As you might expect, each vendor displays its own product. You can see a complete line of samples from both vendors at our Tampa and Orlando showrooms.
Why Orders Are Taking So Long
Lead times for carpet & rugs are being extended/back-ordered as a result of the pandemic, especially for natural fibers & wools.
Here are some of the specific reasons that we are experiencing delays.
Shutdowns
Certain countries or regions within them (India, China, etc) may still be in lock-down mode. Factories may be shut down. This is greatly extending lead times for hand-knotted rugs. We can only stay in touch with vendors and get reports on these situations and pass them on to you.
Customs
The pandemic has slowed down customs operations considerably, at least goods from the East. Perhaps agents are sick or perhaps greater precautions mandate more thorough inspections. No one has a specific reason. But we are hearing that customs inspections that normally take a day or two are running two weeks or longer.
Labor Shortages
These include drivers, movers, installers and warehouse personnel all along the supply chain. For one reason or another various businesses have not rehired to full capacity.
Patience
No one is immune to delays. Please don't blame vendors. They want their products delivered and paid for as much as we want to install them.
Holiday Season
It seems ridiculous in this heat thinking about the Holidays, but we would be remiss not to mention it. Wherever possible, think about getting Holiday orders in as soon as you can.
