The Tampa/Orlando condo markets are booming.

According to Zillow, 651 condos were listed for sale in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties at the beginning of June.

Orlando (Orange County) listings were 520.

With Florida's explosive growth, it's almost certain that virtually all of these will be in the hands of new owners within a year. Many of these new owners will engage interior designers to beautify and organize their new homes.

We are seeing that the design trend is and will be modern.

Condos are smaller than traditional homes, more confined. Clean contemporary decors make them more spacious and airy.

Many of our recent newcomers to Florida have endured long lockdowns and crave space and light.

Young people tend to favor contemporary.

Empty nesters are looking to simplify.

The flooring industry has responded

Rugs are looking more like what you'd see on the walls of a modern art gallery. There are countless renditions of this theme.

Wood

Wood flooring has many ways to look modern. 

Since the rise of loft living in the 60s and 70s, refinished loft floors are seen as modern.

This trend continues today.

The wood has a rough loft look with knots and streaks, but leaves no doubt that it's clean and modern. 

Light colors and tones give space a more open look. So light floors are an important tool in modern interior design.
