We feel fortunate and grateful that our business continues to thrive in this high tech age. We think that it's because we provide a special service tailored to the interior design community that they can't get from other rug merchants.
To assure ourselves that we are on the right track, we asked several designers what they require to buy rugs, usually the most expensive item in a room.
Here are some answers.

I shop with ABD a lot because they made the process so simple for me, and my clients. Sometimes I need to grab samples and bring them to a clients house, other times I stop in and shop in person. When I bring clients with me to the shop they are also always so impressed with the selection and customer service that we are greeted with. It’s also so nice that my clients can peruse their selection online to provide me with ideas of what they like in advance. Shopping with ABD is simple and they are my favorite one stop shop when I need to pick out rugs for a new project.

Normally, when I buy rugs, they're a part of a bigger design scheme during the design phase of the project. Depending on the overall color scheme and type of project (modern, classic, transitional) a rug will be selected and more often than none, made to order.
I never buy sight unseen, not even wall to wall carpet.

I like to buy rugs thru you guys.
Actually, your showroom starts the process.

When I need a rug for a client's project, I first go to the rug showroom and familiarize myself with what is available. I try to choose several different rugs to show my client. I then pull fabrics, paint colors, and photos of furniture that work with the rugs I have chosen.
The next step would be to bring the client to the showroom. If there is not a rug that works for the client, I will then start looking through catalogs or websites to find other options.

To us, rugs are what a complete a room. Rugs are like art; they warm a space and make it feel special. There is nothing more important than the ability to touch, feel and look at a rug in a client's space with rug showings. You can't get that sense online.
