I can't help but marvel at the extraordinary craftsmanship and creativity I'm seeing in cowhide rugs.
Long, long gone are the spread-eagle skins on the floor to give the room a rustic old west look. The modern version comes with colors both natural and skillfully dyed, precise stitching and architectural and patterned design.
These rugs are tough, too. They require the same care as wool rugs and can recover from spills and stains as well.

This very neutral herringbone hide rug represents one end of the spectrum. The light grays and milky whites can support a lot of design, yet the herringbone is an unobtrusive attention-getter.

As you can see this is a bold statement. The peach colored wave pattern is endlessly fascinating to look at. I'm always amazed that this is dyed cowhide.

We installed the rug in a setting at our neighor's showroom. As you can see the grays and toupes mingle nicely with the couch. Many thanks to Interiors Trading.
As a bonus these rugs are very customizable.

This version is called Toupe Wave and has a personality all its own.
