We are seeing a rising interest in stair rods. Folks are looking to add a richer look to stairways with runners. This interest is relatively new, so we thought that it would be useful to you to pass on a few tips to make your shopping and installation experience better.

What You Should Know
Stair rods are decorative only. They do nothing to hold the carpet down.
Important Measurements
Rods should extend about 2.5 ins from the side of the stair runner. Different distances can cause problems. Consult with us if you have a reason to stray from this measurement.
We strongly prefer to measure and cut the rods ourselves. You will most probably prefer that too, and we strongly recommend it.
Hide Alterations in Patterns
When a staircase curves and the treads and risers remain straight, stair rods are great hiding the pattern mismatch that will occur.

No Curved Rods
If a tread, a step, actually curves, you can't use a stair rod. Curved stair rods are not commercially available.
Unlatch Brackets for Cleaning
Many brackets are un-latchable. They can be opened for removing and cleaning the rod and the corner made by the stair tread and riser. If you feel like this will be an issue with your client, make sure the style of bracket that you choose can release the rod.
