More Informed Choices for You
Knowing how we at Addison/Dicus & Bailey source imported rugs can make you a more skillful shopper on behalf of your clients.
We have two basic sources of supply for imported rugs that we buy for you and your clients.
Direct Imports
Via direct visits to the Far East or through trusted agents there, we buy rugs directly from local overseas manufacturers. The rugs tend to be less expensive (no middle men), and more varied.
You are less likely to see a directly imported rug twice in the same city.
Custom orders are almost always available in any size. However, these pieces will take a while to deliver. Expect an average of three to six months if there are no unexpected interruptions. We have had a few of those lately with Covid and supply chain breakdowns.
American Importers
There are a number of companies in the States whose business it is to import fine rugs and maintain an inventory of them. They pick designs or develop designs and program them. This means that they will stock the style in a number of different stock sizes.
These sizes are: 4x6, 6x9, 8x10, 9x12, 10x14, and 12x15.
These rugs, if not in our showrooms, can typically be ordered and received within a few days. However, no rug is guaranteed to be in stock.
Handling and storing rugs is expensive. Hence sourcing from importers costs more.
Our Goal
We strive to keep the right balance of both sources in our showrooms. The greater the selection, the more varied your pallet to create beautiful spaces.
