What's Old Is New Again

In our Central Florida market we are showing more classically designed rugs recently. It could be a temporary spark or maybe people are missing the beautiful designs that handmade rugs have been giving us for millennia.

We are seeing three reasons why classic rugs may be making a comeback.

- People are buying traditional houses. Modern decor would never work in them without a complete do-over. But these new owners are buying traditional homes because they like them; not because they think they can do them over better.

- Designers are re-purposing old designs and colors to fit into modern homes

- And some designers are again flipping basic concept of neutral/attraction. Rugs have recently served more as neutrals giving other elements in the room design the limelight. However, now rugs are again the center of attraction and the other elements are neutral.

The great example of classic design resurgence (and staying power) is the Golden Age Collection.

The rugs in this collection have been around for over ten years. They are impeccably styled, colored and constructed. In their hay day, they were very popular and even adored. People who bought one often bought another.

Below are three selections from Golden Age plus a couple of other classics that get a lot of looks.
